But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:14-16 NIV)

Sermon Title: The Union of The Word and The Spirit
Date: 25 Dec 2014
Venue: Colombia Pastors’ Conference With Prophet T.B. Joshua
Prophet T.B. Joshua
We have listened to many of this powerful minister of God’s sermons and we felt that they can surely be summed up with the following Bible verse: “For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 NIV)
1. Do not speak, preach and teach the Word and the Spirit, in separation.
When we look at what is happening in the ministries today, churches are known for one or the other. It is either this church is known for the preaching and teaching, while the other is known for miracles, signs and wonders. This is not how it should be. The early church stood strong in the doctrine and the power of the Lord. The same thing should happen today.
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. (John 6:63 NIV)
“What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. (Luke 24:19 NIV)
2. Rely more on the power of God than on our own human wisdom and abilities.
The union of the Word and the Spirit has been challenged by modern-day circumstances. What are the challenges? Man’s natural gifts- abilities, talents and education. They rely and depend on their own abilities rather than depend on the power of God. People do not know that when they study the Word in University or Theological school, they do not know that they cannot study the Spirit. There is nowhere you can study the Spirit. People study the Word today and believe that it is all. Today, we preach The Word without being carried by the Spirit.
The following Scripture reference is not from the sermon but I felt in my heart to share this as it is written by Apostle Paul, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5 NIV)
